About your teacher:

My name is Michele Renaldi. Below I have listed some information about myself, both personal and professional, so that you can get to know me a little bit better.

Professional Information: I have been teaching in Elizabeth City Schools since January 2001. During my time here I have taught 6th grade math/science, 2nd grade, third grade, fifth grade and now first grade. I have moved to different grades to gain more experience on what is expected in each grade. As a first grade teacher I know what they need to get them ready for the upper grades. I feel that my past experience will truly help me better prepare them for the future.

I graduated from the University of Akron in Akron, Ohio. I graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science in Education degree. After that I was a substitute in Ohio and them I got a temporary job as a 6th grade special education teacher in Harrisburg, Pa.

Since being in Elizabeth City, I have attended training all over the state including a five year program called Project Bright IDEA. This was a wonderful program that focused on the integration of multi-cultural literature through out all subjects as well as lesson design and Habits of Mind. It was affiliated with Duke University and the State Gifted and Intelligence Department. I am always attending professional development to keep up with new and exciting ways to reach all of my student's needs.

During my career at ECPPS I have also held many titles. I have been a teacher Mentor to new teachers and to teachers who are finishing their college education and are doing their student teaching. I was cheering coach for three years, President of the Hospitality Committee, member of the School Improvement Team, Current member of the School Design Team. I have been on the report card committee, grade level chair, and PBIS, just to name a few. I was names Northside Elementary's Teacher of the Year in 2010.

Currently I am attending grad. school to obtain my masters in reading and literacy. I should graduate in Feb. 2017.

Personal Information: I am married with two beautiful daughters, Jordan 14 and Madison 12. I also have four wonderful dogs/kids. I am originally from Beaver Falls Pa., which is not too far from Pittsburgh, Pa. so I am a die hard Steeler Fan!!!! I am very involved with community Drama. I have an extensive background in music and theater and it has become a way for me to spend time with my children as they are also involved in the theater. Other pass times consist of sewing, painting, and crafting. When I can get outside I love to fish, kayak, and I love Water Country and Busch Gardens.
